Acceptable Use Policy

Last Updated: August 8, 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to everyone who uses the You-Own platform — merchants, their staff, and anyone accessing Services or Stores hosted on our infrastructure. It is incorporated into and forms part of our Terms of Service. Capitalized terms have the meanings given in the Terms. We may investigate suspected violations and may remove content, throttle, suspend, or terminate accounts under Section 6.4 and Section 20 of the Terms.

1. Prohibited Products and Commerce

1.1 You may not use the Services to sell, promote, or facilitate:

  • Anything illegal under the laws that apply to you or your buyers, or transactions with parties in embargoed jurisdictions or on restricted-party lists;
  • Counterfeit, stolen, or misdescribed goods, including jewelry, precious metals, or gemstones sold with false certifications, appraisals, or origin claims;
  • Goods or content that infringe third-party intellectual property or other rights;
  • Weapons, ammunition, explosives, or other regulated items sold without the required licenses or authorizations;
  • Illicit drugs, controlled substances, or products making unlawful medical claims;
  • Deceptive, fraudulent, or misleading schemes, including pyramid schemes, fake reviews, or bait-and-switch offers;
  • Money laundering, sanctions evasion, terrorist financing, or any other financial crime.

2. Prohibited Content

2.1 You may not publish through the Services content that: (a) is unlawful, defamatory, or invades another person's privacy; (b) exploits or endangers minors in any way; (c) incites or threatens violence, or harasses or promotes hatred against people based on protected characteristics; or (d) impersonates any person or entity or misrepresents your identity or affiliation.

3. Platform and Network Integrity

3.1 You may not: (a) probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Services or circumvent any security or authentication measure (except as expressly permitted under our Security & Responsible Disclosure policy); (b) interfere with or disrupt the Services or impose an unreasonable load on our infrastructure, including through bots, scripted traffic, or abusive request patterns; (c) scrape or harvest data from the Services or other merchants' stores without authorization; (d) reverse engineer, copy, resell, or white-label the platform or offer it to third parties as a service; or (e) access or attempt to access another merchant's tenant, data, or account.

3.2 Custom code and AI-built applications. Code you run on the platform — whether written by you or generated by the AI Services at your direction — may not attempt to escape its sandboxed environment, access other tenants, exfiltrate platform credentials or secrets, mine cryptocurrency, or intentionally degrade platform performance. We may throttle, disable, or remove any code or automation as described in Section 11 of the Terms.

3.3 AI misuse. You may not use AI Services to generate content prohibited by this AUP, to produce deliberately deceptive content presented as authentic (for example, fake endorsements or reviews), or to attempt to extract other tenants' data or our model providers' proprietary information.

4. Communications and Marketing Abuse

4.1 You may not use the Services to send spam or unsolicited bulk communications, or communications that violate applicable marketing laws (including CAN-SPAM and the TCPA). You are responsible for obtaining any consents required for marketing to your Shoppers and honoring opt-outs promptly.

4.2 You may not submit fake orders, fabricated returns or warranty claims, or other fraudulent submissions through any storefront or portal on the platform, or automate such submissions.

5. Reporting and Enforcement

5.1 To report a violation of this AUP — including a store you believe is selling prohibited goods or infringing your rights — contact legal@you-own.com. Copyright and trademark complaints are handled under our Copyright & Trademark policy.

5.2 We decide in our reasonable discretion whether conduct violates this AUP. Depending on severity, our response may range from a warning or content removal to throttling, suspension, or termination of the account, with or without notice, as described in the Terms. Nothing in this AUP obligates us to monitor content or waives any right or remedy we have.
